Every Wednesday night, September 8 to 29, Pirate Race Productions will be hosting the High Country Cyclocross Series at the Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Each week will offer a 30 minute "B" and 45 minute "A" race, where participants will complete a lap of the famous track before maneuvering through a windy and challenging course on the grassy hillside outside the stadium, and riding back onto the track.

Cyclocross is the worlds greatest spectator sport, incredibly beginner friendly, can be done on any mountain bike, and on a dry course, many road bikes can squeeze a knobby under long-reach brake calipers. Its great for kids, its the safest of the cycling disciplines, and no matter how bad shape you are in, its still fun; anyone can go in circles for 30 minutes.

For more information, check out www.pirateraceproductions.com/hccx or follow High Country Cyclocross on Facebook.

Swing by the Speedway this Wednesday for a little preview of the series - we'll be showing up about 5 to set up and start testing the course and solicit feedback. We might do some timed laps starting around 6:30. No charge, no insurance, possibly free Blowing Rock Ale. Grab your mountain bike and come find out why cyclocross is the greatest sport on the planet.
