(I hope you don't mind me posting this here.)

Curse at the Crab 6-hour MTB Race
Lake Crabtree County Park (next to RDU airport, off Hwy 40)
Saturday, Mar 13, 2010, 3-9 pm (yep--a couple of night laps worked in)

This race would be a great warm-up for the 6-hours of Warrior Creek. I know a lot of Triangle riders are using it as such. Lake Crabtree doesn't have nearly the elevation of WC, but the race will be almost all singletrack and the trails are well maintained. This venue always draws a good crowd.

Chip timing and on-site mechanical assistance provided. All proceeds go to local trail projects.

Yep, TORC puts on some fun races and I'm sure this will be as well.

At last weekends TORC Meltdown 6hr, BMCC members Sophie Clyburn and Anne Bringuier took 1st and 2nd in the Women's Solo and Cedric Clyburn took 1st in the Junior's Solo. The trail was in really good shape, they put a lot of effort in preparing it for the event.

Personally, I hope the event gets postponed to the raindate so we can make it (out of town on 3/13)! Plus more night laps then!!!

Anyone from the BMCC plan on doing this?

Race has been postponed until Friday, March 19th, 5-11 pm (you'll need more battery power now!)

Pre-registration has been extended on the Meetup page until Thursday, March 18th @ 8:00 pm. Same day registration will be from 3:30 pm - 4:45 pm on Friday.

If you are registered for the race and cannot make the rain date, you can either donate your registration fee to TORC or you can e-mail the ride director for a refund. Click on Sean Callihan's name on the Meetup page, then click e-mail to send him the message.

Details here:

Sorry if this inconveniences anyone. We got a lot of rain yesterday and last night. Plus this is a very popular venue, which is why it needs to happen on Friday the 19th, rather than Saturday the 20th.

Race is on for today. We've had a week of sunshine and 60s, and it will be sunny and 70 today. They've kept Crabtree trails closed down for most of the week in preparation for the race, so the trails should be dry and fast.

Good to see a few of the BMCC folks representing. Have a great race!

Fun night race. Team Clyburn had a great time chasing the animals around Lake Crabtree. We really enjoyed the series this year.
