Check out the High Country's newest cycling event, the Reynolds Blue Ridge Classic May 14-15. There are two different events over the weekend, with fun options for every type of cyclist, from rank beginner to seasoned pro.
The Lenoir Rotary's Cycle to Serve Challenge on the morning of Saturday the 14th offers a 100K, 40 mile, and 25 mile rides through the quiet country roads of Caldwell and Wilkes Counties. The fastest finishers of each distance get cakes, and the top-15 male and female finishers of the 100K ride will receive points towards the overall weekend title.
Sunday at high noon will be The Ascent: 9.25 miles, 3,200′ climb, 5.9% average grade on the buttery smooth pavement of Reynolds Blue Ridge.
In addition to individual race awards, there will be prizes for top overall finishers, which will be awarded at the stunning Watson Gap Pavilion.
