Check the link below in the morning. It's a rain gauge at the lake in 15 minute rain amounts. There are storms lurking so if it rains on the trails they'll be wet in the morning. If not, they won't. If it does rain on the hard pack this evening, riding later in the day would be better but do what you gotta do...

so looking at the link above it seems like WC hasn't gotten any rain in forever - is that really true?

The Dirt Divas have a trip planned up there tomorrow and I was wondering about trail conditions.

The Charlotte metro area has pretty much had rain every night this week.

I was wondering the same thing. Found this when I checked the area weather just now:

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through late tonight...

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of North Carolina and
Virginia... including the following areas... in North Carolina...
Alleghany NC... Ashe... Surry... Watauga and Wilkes. In
Virginia... Carroll... Floyd... Franklin... Grayson and Patrick.

* Through late tonight

* bands of heavy rain producing showers and thunderstorms will
develop and move across the region from west to east this
afternoon and evening. Some of the storms will be capable of
producing rainfall rates higher than 2 inches per hour.

Sassy and Loco,

The data at the link is in 15 minute increments so you have to watch closely for the non-zeros. The last major rain even at the gauge was on 7/4.

It's raining currently, so the trails will be wetish tomorrow. Check the gauge in the morning and if there hasn't been any rain after about 10 pm and the amounts total to under an inch or so, it shouldn't be too bad if you can start a little later in the day. The problem is that there's a chance of rain tomorrow as well so a later start might result in a downpour during your ride. If you can postpone until Sunday, you'll know all you need to know and can make a proper decision given your ride time, etc.

Down Here in Wilkes,
