The 2nd Annual 6 Hours of Warrior Creek is a wrap. In the end, 354 racers tested their mettle in an early season trial of fitness and stamina. Whether you want to look are not, results are posted and due to popular demand, we’ve also included a breakdown of individual lap times!!!
Rest assured we’ll be back in 2011 with more of the pain and suffering you’re accustomed to in early April. Mark your calendars for April 2, 2011 to start your racing season. Registration will open on October 1st. We are already receiving commitments from sponsors for next year. If you know of any who may want to be a part of the most popular event in the SE, let us know.
We saw an 80% increase in registration by racers from 14 different states and Canada (eh!). The BMCC would like to thank you all for your participation. While we are expressing our gratitude, we don’t want to leave out our sponsors and volunteers. The “green shirts” kept things moving and kept all you racer types in line. I hope you thanked them as you passed them on the trail. It would be hard to put on a race without great sponsors, and we’ve got lots of them. Special thanks to presenting sponsors, Boone Brewing Co., Specialized, Tifosi Optics and Redwood Creek. Also, a big thanks goes to Luna Cycles of Lenoir, sponsor of the Niner frame giveaway won by Ray Braquet, and to Industry 9, who gave away a sweet set of hubs won by Eric Hagerty of Charlotte. The man is so lucky he has a class named after him in the BURN24! BTW, registration fees go up after tax day. Check the race website and click through our sponsor pages. Don’t forget to show your LBS some love too.
Be sure to check out all the cool photos and videos that have been posted on the 6WC website. We’re holding out for a couple of more links from the photogs that were on site but there’s plenty to keep you entertained.
We’ve also run across some people with some very kind things to say from the racer’s perspective. Here is a list of several we've found:
We also want to send a special thanks to the US Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District for their continued partnership with the BMCC to build these great trails.
Thanks again to all of you that contributed to the success of the 2nd Annual 6 Hours of Warrior Creek. Don’t forget to race with us again at the BURN 24 Hour Challenge presented by Bikerumor.com in May. Until then,
Give a hoot, don’t pollute!
