Thank You -- We’ve got lots of people to thank for making
it happen, most notably the 210 racers from 8 different states that we know
of. There were people from Washington, New York, Maryland, Kentucky, Tennessee,
Virginia and the Cackalackies converging on Wilkesbermo to enjoy the trails
of Warrior Creek. What a way to ride in the new single track at WC! We had an
excellent support staff from the volunteers of the BMCC to keep the event flowing
and then we had our sponsors. They’re
important to us and each contributed to a stellar first time event.
The Proceeds – The 6WC was solely a fundraiser for the
BMCC Trail Fund. More money in our coffers means more, sweet single track for
you to enjoy. The BMCC will be vested in Warrior Creek for the next couple of
years. We’ve got two more loops to build and a few more tweaks to make
on the Warrior Creek Loop itself.
Build it and they will come -- Dirk Dobbler once said, “We
work because we have to but building trail is what we do.” All the positive
feedback about the event has put smiles on the faces of the faithful BMCC Trail
Care Crew. 7 miles of trail built in one year, torrential rains for two days
prior to the race and the show goes on. You were there so you saw what a phenomenal
job they did building sustainable trails. Well done, Trail Crew!
Here piggy, piggy -- Thank you Chad Eller for some of the best
chicken and pig ever. The crew at Boone
Brewing Company topped it off with some tasty suds to wash it all down.
Of course none of this would have been good without a nice place to sit back
and enjoy it all. If you’re thinking of coming back to spend some time
on the trails, check in with The
Wilderness Lodge. They might have a room for you.
Be sure to check out Kinetic Images for pictures of the event. Robert Seth might make your mug famous. He takes a good picture. Check often as he had a lot of pictures to upload. Results are posted. There’s a disclaimer* on the website. Check them out if you’ve been wondering.
Don’t forget about the BURN
24 Hour Challenge in May.
Mark you calendars for April 3, 2010 and make plans for the second annual 6
Hours of Warrior Creek.
Keep the rubber side down,
Jason Bumgarner & Paul Stahlschmidt

*Results Disclaimers
We get it. You want to see the results. We do have a couple of disclaimers though. None of which effect the podium positions. First, in the solo female category; Kelly Klett is not a woman. Sorry dude, don’t know how that happened. Second, in the Duo Male category; The Middle Ring Mafia should be in fifth place with the team of Pedaldamnit! finishing somewhere other than fifth. We doubt they turned a seven minute lap!
